Handspun #2
I plied up my second attempt at spinning with pretty nice results. The is a wool and silk blend from Mountain Colors that has a really nice sheen to it in the right light. The colors are beautiful and the yarn is soft enough that I'm thinking of knitting a cowl with this. Now I just have to find the right pattern.

To Spin a Yarn
Last year at Sheep Day in Waterloo, IL, fast becoming one of my favorite annual events, I purchased my first fiber and spindle with the intention of learning to spin. I made it through the first 8 oz of fiber pretty quickly but I never got around to the next step and ply it. Fortunately I received a Lazy Kate for Christmas and I've finally plied the singles and made "real" yarn.
I've now have four skeins that you can see get better as I went along so I am pretty happy with this for a first foray into spinning. Now, what to knit with this?

The Right to Wear Arms
I've been spending some more time working on my sweater and I continue to love everything about it. I have decided to knit the sleeves in the round because I just don't feel the idea of seaming them. So far, so good.

Rue Lafayette
As I sit at Rue Lafayette in Lafayette Square, I can't help but admire how some people just have an "eye" when it comes to putting an eclectic group of items together in a beautiful way. I love the collection of individual and lovely items that all grouped together support a comfortable and cozy coffee shop environment. Of course it doesn't hurt that the owner's Boston Terrier Bella is the official mascot and greeter.
As for me, I'm working on a new garter rib sock with some Tofutsies from my stash. Not a bad way to spend the time while I wait for my car to be fixed.

Spring Forward Already?
I came outside this morning to a surprise visitor about a month earlier than usual. I guess I better spend some time cleaning up the garden beds this weekend since they've been neglected since Fall.
